Noah's Ar(gh)k!

The animals walked in two by two,
The animals walked in two by two,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The animals walked in two by two,
The monkey and the kangaroo,
They all walked in to the ark,
Just to get out of the rain.

Titania is humming this song again and probably seeing it in her head, as she has every Valentine’s Day. The mush in the air brings out the acerbic, cynical side to her and hence to quote Madame.

“The world is a place for pairs or a couple, even language is indicative of that, for e.g. ‘peas in a pod’, pair of shoes, dark and light, day and night, bread butter, and male plug-female plug. We speak of finding balance –yin and yang which is being in touch with the femininity and the masculinity and the dynamics of the two, together, to create a whole. As humans we are programmed towards this, to find that balance and finding that partner.

Unfortunately, for some of us this programming malfunctions and has a delayed reaction time. We only recognize this need for emotional interdependence and an individual to share our life when we are surrounded by couples in our own social group. Of course they communicate with you and still friends with you. Yet, they seem to have developed a means of communication that’s all their own. They also communicate with other couples with a continuing ease which makes you feel a little out of place.

They have launched into a journey, where quite a bit of the time the interaction is between a duo and you begin to recognize the need for such. Becoming aware that if you are not part of a couple then you are the odd man out and you are in effect standing outside the ark in the rain. That’s when you begin to frantically look for that significant other so that you too are a part of a couple and again a part of your ‘estranged’ or shall I say ‘distanced’ social group. This is what I call the “Noah’s Ark Effect’”

That damned Titania is sooo frustrating; I know that when she hums that silly song she wants to be on that boat. When you ask her about it she’ll tell you (depending on her mood) that the boat is sure to be super crowded and lacking in space or that she will build her own boat. Other times, she tells you she is thinking about getting on to that boat. She’s definitely humming the song again!

Walking Blindfolded in the Dark

Have you ever walked blindfolded? There's the kind you do when playing blind man's buff. When every person calling out to you is only causing you confusion? Which direction shall I walk in? Somebody seems to be there straight ahead, no no to the left, hey who's that to the right? And that wonderful confusion. It gives rise to so much thinking, so much churning. So much like life itself, where there are hundreds of well wishers pulling you in that many directions.
Then there is my favourite kind - I walk blindfolded in the dark. I listen to the wind rustling and feel every temperature change. The grass and trees speak to me as if I am one of their own.
There are people talking all around me telling me what to do. It's no longer disturbing, no longer confusing, it's just the background score. There is this utter sense of calm that tells me I am walking the right path. There's a faith in myself and my actions. The path that I have chosen is one of my making, I believe enough in myself to live with the consequences. I know that I can, as well as I know, that whatever I do I'll give it my best. It might not always work out and it might not always be picture perfect. Atleast I gave it my best. I'll take a risk, put my faith in it. It might be a direction I know nothing about... I'm willing to learn!
I'm listening to the music that comes from within my heart!

Dratted success!

I'd like to take flight right now! Right away! i am trapped by my own success... I'm doing well, getting the responsibilities, the success and the accolades that go with it. Sounds good doesn't it?
You get the most interesting projects, you get the challenging work that you always looked for. There is no scope for boredom because - well hello... all the projects you get,are right up your street. The money is good!

At, the back of your little pea sized brain, a little drummer starts it's litany... it's too much... there's more to life than work. what of art? what of wildlife? Didn't I want a job to ease my path to these? To be able to follow my crazy little dreams, that are meant just for me?
It's time for change, I need more in my life than work. I love my work, but I still need more!
But, I am trapped by my own needs. The need for success, the need for challenge, the need for exciting new opportunities. And the mother of all needs - money!
I have got used to the luxuries that money provides, the flexibility it gives you to do your own thing. The independence it gives you to make decisions. The money I earn barely suffices the house keeping, clothes, bills and to find money in that for dreams? How do i do it? How do i make it all work for me?
Ten million times, I think i'll chuck it all up! Head for the woods, fly with winds like a free bird. To take off and go back to my simpler lifestyle, down size my needs. I don't know if I have the courage now. I am stuck in a path of my own making.
I clipped my own wings!

All, I want is, EVERYTHING!

All I want is everything! I am serious, I don't think I am the kinds who can be satisfied with bits and pieces of something or the other.
I get bees in my bonnet about a variety of things and then I have to follow it up in great and minute detail. I have to know it's nitty grittys. I get a tunnel visioned, single focussed method of working. I am obsess with the idea till I have run out of steam. Interesting right?
But, then I am intersted in and want everything.

The Doll in the shop

That doll in the shop,
Will she hop to my bid?
Will she nod when I pull a string?
Or talk & parrot everything I think?
Nah! not that one she's got too much brain!

That doll in the shop,
Can she cook?
Can she dance or sing?
Take care of my parents, guests &
and the kitchen sink?
Not, that one - she's a career girl!

The doll in the shop,
Has she glowing cheeks?
Hair like silk?
Is she always smiling?
Not that one- she's too tall ,
too short, too fat, to thin!

Haven

Give me the azure skies above me,
The sienna earth below.

Emerald forests around me,
A land where gentle grasses grow,
Flows a river, of melted snow.
The mountains hewn, sharpened by the rough wind,
The gift of a child's smile pure, unbid.

Give me the azure sky above me,
The sienna earth below,
My earth, my nirvana, my haven.
