The Girl

Did I tell you that Titania works at a school? At school, Titania has a lot in common with Phoebe & Juno. What ties the three together is that they all love to read, experience new things & learn. All three of them love children. The children are drawn to them, especially to Phoebe.
A few weeks back, Titania was sitting in her office with Juno. Phoebe came in and asked them both if they would like to come to an orphanage with her. One of Phoebe's friends was celebrating her daughter's first birthday there. Phoebe has been visiting orphanages off and on for many years. Believing that anything, small or big that you do with them helps. Titania has also visited orphanages earlier. Toyed with the idea of going there off and on.
The three went there. They spent the afternoon, singing songs with the children, handing out the birthday cake & other goodies.They played games with the children. All three were at such peace. They were doing a good thing.
They were hurt by the condition the children were in - some of them with skin problems, scabs & rashes, boils on their arms.These things didn't stop them from picking up the babies & hugging them close.
One of the girls, became very attached to Phoebe. She hung on to Phoebe's arms and legs & wouldn't let her go.The three started discussing going back home & the Girl heard us. She went and hid her face in her arms and sat next to Phoebe. They decided to play another game before leaving.Soon the game was over.
They started to say their good-byes to the children. All the children said bye so cheerfully. Well prepared that this time would end, except for the Girl. When Phoebe went up to say bye to her, the Girl glared at her. The look was pure anger! The kind that has no business on a child's face.
Phoebe, Juno & Titania left from there & were discussing the visit, when Titania said " I wonder if the visits really help them? People come & go but they never have any one constant relationship in their lives."
All three were quiet for sometime after that. They went back to their routines.Phoebe & Titania spoke of it again recently, both upset by the visit. Both looking for answers.
Was,what they were doing right? Is it just a question of good faith as Phoebe's friend pointed out to her? Or is there anyway in which these children can be helped regularly?
The girl is never far from their thoughts. The look never forgotten!
